We began working with the Mid Ohio Regional Planning Commission back in March 2025 to have a study completed on our Parks and Cemeteries. The weeks that followed included input from the community and key stakeholders that included a survey. The information collected from that work then resulted in short-term, mid-term goals, and long-term goals.
The finished study covers the parks and cemeteries in Jerome Township and nearby resources as well. The results from the study include that our community desires more recreational offerings and trails. We hope to use the study to seek further funding through grants and other sources. The study also provided these key recommendations:
1. Develop of a Capital Improvement Plan (CIP) to systematically allocate resources for park enhancements such as tree planting, trail construction, and land acquisition.
2. Establish a volunteer-based organization, such as a “Friends of” groups—to build grassroots support, assist with programming, and attract philanthropic contributions.
3. Continue engagement with MORPC to leverage their free technical services, particularly in crafting a comprehensive trails master plan.
4. Pursue public-private partnerships to fund recreational maintenance and improvements, and ease financial pressures while fostering a sense of shared investment in the community’s outdoor spaces.
We hope you take time to review the Study in its entirety on our website.
